Mildred Cox, 82 of Jacksonville, died May 5, 2012 at Carolina Rivers Nursing and Rehilbilitation Center.
Funeral service will be held at Saunders Funeral Home at 210 Bell Fork Road,
Jacksonville with Rev. Dr. Mike Padgett officiating.
Burial will follow at Georgetown Memorial Park,
Georgetown community, Jacksonville, NC.
Mildred Ardella Williams Cox was born in Pittsburgh, Pa.
on September 19, 1929 to the late David and Adeline Anderson.
She was a member of Apostolic Free Church of God of St.
Albans, West Virginia. She was retired from Charleston Memorial
Hospital as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant. She served two
years as President of the Resident’s Clinton Manor Association.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charlie Williams
and her second husband Blaine H. Cox.
Name by her granddaughter Sharon Lynn, Mildred was lovingly
referred to as “Grammie”. She loved the Lord Jesus Christ and
her family. She believed that her God given purpose was to train
her children in the love and admonition of the Lord. God blessed
her with a Mother’s Love for her family. At the young age of 22
with two children, she united in marriage with Charlie Williams
who had eight children and one child in their union. She accepted
the challenge, gave of herself, and loved us all unconditionally.
She is survived by two brothers: James C. Anderson (Wilma)
and David Anderson; children: Wycee Williams of West Virginia,
Gladys Hogan of Detroit, Michigan, Lille Mae Heyward of
Columbus, Ohio, Gloria Ward (David) of Jacksonville, North
Carolina, Mildred Louise Williams of Oxon Hill, Maryland,
Barbara Jenkins (Richard) of Clinton, MD, David Williams
(Shelia) of Columbus, Ohio and Henrietta Ward of Charlotte,
N.C. Grandchildren (50): great grandchildren (25) and greatgreat-
grandchildren (4).
