Harold Koonce , 85 of Comfort, died July 12, 2012 at his residence. Funeral service will be held 1 p.m. July 17, 2012 at Comfort Miracle Institute, Comfort, with Bishop Charles White Officiating. Burial will follow at Cypress Creek Cemetery, Comfort, The family will receive family and friends Monday, July 16 from 5-8 p.m. at Saunders Funeral Home.
He was a World War II Veteran, served as Chairman of the Deacon Board at CMI Church, Sunday School Superintendent and Member of Koonce Help Yourself Club.
He is survived by his wife, Esther Lorine Koonce of the home; sons, Donnie Koonce, Florida, Richard Koonce, Fayetteville, Linwood Koonce, Selma, Julius Koonce, Greensboro, Harold White, Jacksonville and DeWayne Koonce, Charlotte; daughters, Jackelene Hatchell, Comfort, Travel Barber, Kinston, Della Murrell, Raleigh and Barbara Best, New Jersey; brother, Harvey Koonce, Comfort, sisters, Hazel Moure, Jacksonville, Hannah Humphrey, Richlands and Helen Davis, Jacksonville.
